Janardan Koh Hee Homestay is a traditional Karen structure built in the 1960’s by Saw Aung Thong. It is now run as a quaint boutique homestay, tucked away in the tranquil village of Webi, Mayabunder.
The family for generations have practiced organic methods of farming on their 5 acre property and serve traditional home cooked Karen meals.
The place is good for couples, solo adventurers, and families (with kids).
The space
Koh Hee is one of the last traditional and original wooden Karen homes in Middle Andaman Island. Our space is used primarily for paddy cultivation, and as our home.
The home-stay is part of our house; washrooms and toilets are located downstairs and are not attached to the guest rooms which are on the 1st floor, accessible by stairs.
Guest access
Guests have the entire first floor of the house, while meals are served in an outdoor dining space in the garden; come join in conversation with us in the common seating area. The garden, stream bank, our paddy fields are all available for you to explore and feel at home.
Other things to note
We do not encourage the consumption of alcohol at our home.
Our home-stay provides wholesome Indian and Karen meals, and we do not maintain it as a restaurant, but rather as our home kitchen and dining. Clean drinking water is made available for all residents. Refrigeration facility is also available, so do let us know if you would like to stock any of your items in the refrigerator.
